Born in Hainan Province in 1979, Zhang Jingxin graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Hainan University in 1999. He currently resides in Shenzhen and works as a professional artist. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Hainan Youth Artists Association and is a member of the Hainan Artists Association.

In today’s art world, where individuality, innovation, and conceptual expression are highly emphasized, every artist must confront and navigate the tension between "innovation" and "tradition." Amidst this creative anxiety, Zhang Jingxin has discovered his own voice and developed a comprehensive system of artistic thought and creation.

Rooted in traditional techniques yet guided by abstract concepts, Zhang’s work is characterized by continuous experimentation and exploration. He navigates the space between discovery and control, blending geometric structures with organic fluid forms. In this interplay, his paintings find equilibrium between movement and stillness, weight and release. These emotionally charged, almost hysterical visual dialogues give rise to a unique "species energy" born of nonlinear thinking.

Zhang’s “Species” Bowl Series evokes a deep, indescribable unrest within the viewer. The cracks on the canvas blur the boundaries of time and space, drawing the audience into what Stephen Hawking once described as "temporal fractures"—a realm of perpetual struggle between pain and hope, between fragility and resilience. Just as Hawking suggested that “everything has cracks,” Zhang applies this principle to time and space itself. Through these fractures, we are invited to reflect on humanity, to mourn, to remember, and to perceive the world anew.

Zhang Jingxin’s work consistently urges reflection on the relationship between humanity and nature, provoking thought through the essence of art itself. His paintings embody a rich interplay of Eastern philosophical concepts—heaven and man, emptiness and presence, the Dao and its manifestations—all woven into a finite visual space that gives rise to infinite complexity. Each piece becomes a profound, multifaceted journey of the soul.
